Fuji apples are the most widely grown variety in Japan, prized for
their sweetness and crisp, juicy texture.
It is exported from Japan in large quantities and has become well
known worldwide; today, the variety is grown in many countries around the globe.
The fruit’s flesh is dense and remarkably crisp. With a high sugar content of
about 12–15 °Brix, it offers a well-balanced flavor that combines pronounced
sweetness with just the right touch of acidity.
At the height of the season, it delivers rich sweetness and an aromatic fragrance
with a smooth mouthfeel. Its versatility makes it ideal for everything from fresh
eating to a wide range of processed products.
This variety has excellent keeping quality; in Japan, special storage
methods allow it to remain available on the market until April.
Although it is cultivated in many prefectures throughout Japan, the primary
production areas are Aomori, Nagano, Iwate, and Yamagata.
